Musability
Musability
Music therapy is similar to psychotherapy, in that it is based around a secure, therapeutic relationship. Psychotherapy or counselling relies heavily, if not solely, on words to communicate emotions and to set and reach therapeutic goals. The main difference with music therapy is that the music can act as the main form of communication. Music can be much less intense and significantly more accessible than using words. Music therapy is evidence-based and researched widely across the world, with music therapists undertaking their work according to the theories and frameworks of their accreditation. MusAbility music therapists empower their clients to ensure that there is a solid therapeutic relationship which enables individuals to trust, develop and express themselves. The majority of the music made in sessions is improvised and the therapists work with the clients at their level.
